sosoososo look it here, look it here....something i can really write bout..hehe Writingg. Writing is like ma 4th bestfriend (lol) anywhoo.. but yea i really enjoy writing lets me release all of my thoughts or feelings that i have. When it comes to Humanities my writing skills really improved since 7th grade i will say i sucked at writtinq like no lie. Writing for me now is kind of hard still because you learn new ways on ho w to write an essay and stuff like that. When Mr.LOcker showed us how to do the DBQ it help us (me)very much on how toThen wen i found out that we was going to start to have a class name Com.
Arts at 1st i was like what the hell is Cum. Arts but when we had the class i fell in love lol i will have to say that its my most favorite class out of all my classes. Why i say that you ask? well heres why>> its cause ever since we had Ms.Shah's class it seems like we have been closer as a class of 8O2 meaning we stick together. Not only that though we do alot of poetry in our class soo that gives us a chance 2 express our true feelings our whats going on in our lifes just by putting it in different words.it all started on a rainy day at home in ma living room looking out the window...Nah let me stop it was sexy out meaning da weather was beautiful outside just felt like putting a whole bunch of words together that will sound like a mini rap lol yess i was bored okaiiz..but anywho.
..like i was saying i was making a mini rap on how ma baby cousin is a pain in ma anus and how my big cousin is annoying lol u should hear it one day...sooo yea thats when i knew i had the passion to do any kind of poem i wanted to.Tuesday, June 16, 2009

During the summer I HATED READING yoo like UGH!! i couldn't stand even looking at a book (lolz). So all i did was go out with my friends to the pool and party (lolz) Reading was the last thing on my mind intil my mom made me=( I was so tight. Now ever since I hit 8th grade I kinda got into books still hate it a little though (lol).
One book that i read really wanted me 2 read a whole bunch of books at once
which was "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer when i read thix
book it really mad me say wow and cry and just wanted 2 beat the mother but thats a different story...Ever since i read this book i found myself reading alot of Drama and Fantasy and alot of Gangster books like "Tyrell" by Goe Booth and "Torn " by Keisha Ervin and also i'm into poetry books.

Sammi Randoms' Writiinnqqq.

Okay...So finally, something i can actually talk about...WRITING! Omg, I love writing. But i do admit, at the beginning of the 8Th grade school year, I SUCKED at writing, like responses for tests and such. I mean c'mon. HOW BORINNGGGG is that. I guess because it was such a big SNOOZE for me, i wasn't really putting any effort into it. I now realize that it was very important to my learning, but then, I just wanted to get it over with.
This year was a bit different for me because I was introduced to a class named "
Communication Arts" which is taught by both of our schools humanities teachers; Sholcker[: .
(LMFAO] But my teacher was Ms. Shah. In the beggining of the year, it was all about yah' know test prep and whatever. And then we started into poetry. Something I was never really good at. And frankly, something i was NOT looking forward to.
So one day, Im sitting in my kitchen and my grandmother is making my favorite dinner ever...pork chops with rice and beans. And I come up with some stupid rap about how it smelled like puerto rico, and it looked like the slums and stuff like that. AND I HAD A SUDDEN EPIFANY!
"Ghee, wow i mean, if i can write 4pages, about how my grandmas cooking stikes up so many thoughts in my head...i can do any thing!"
So i got my notebook, and i wrote about how much i missed my mom, and how mr.locker looks like a cat, and how all the teachers probably live in a cave. And i realized that this could take me somewhere, and i can actually do something with this. So i started writing, and writing, and little by little my progress started to astonish people. Including myself. It was crazy how so many emotions and feelings can all go on one peice of paper and TELL people whats been in your head. It was crazy to me.
One of the poems, that have driven me to really push myself in writing poems was this one called "P.O.W." Writen by none other then Alicia Keys. One of the more powerful lines in her poem, that REALLY stood out to me was
"Mosly I only say what you wanna hear, could you take it if i came clear? Or would you rather see me...STONED on a drug, of complacency and compromise?"
That line really stands out to me and tells me something powerful. Because when you hear the word "drug" you imediatly think of "stoned" or "high" but shes using this word as an example. An example of how quiet and scared she is of what may happen if she were to stay quiet any longer.I think that i have really grown, as a reader and a writing in the 8th grade. Being able to read what other people have to say and what they feel, has made me an overall better writer because i would get to inorperate all of those skills that people use and more to make my writing the best that it can be. Sammi RANDOMS' Readinq...
Once upon a time, I SUCKED AT READING! My name is Sam, and I am now awesome at reading :]. Don't get me wrong, it took a butt-load of work, a ton of reading, and A LOT of carrots(They help your eyesight!). When i was in the 7th grade, all I did was pickup books from the library, you know, the ones with the silver-shiny covers and the girls looking out the window into the sunset...yeah those. I didn't put much variety into my reading. One great day, I saw a hardcover, 320 page book. It had a girls stomach on the cover and her belly button was pierced. This book CHANGED my life(Like Twilight Status people...). Not only did it change my perception on real life, it opened my mind to reading books that I wouldn't normally read.
This life changing book was named
"Pop Princess" by Rachel Cohn. This book is about a young girl that works at the local DQ. She's sweeping up the floor when a big shot record producer walks in for a vanilla cone. He hears her angelic voice and decides to hire her to record a few tracks. Then all of a sudden, BOOM BOOM POW! She's your modern day Hannah Montana. How flippin' awesome is that?! I know this doesn't seem interesting now...but trust me, this book is AMAZING! They're were very few books that have really spoken to me. In fact, there was one every year of my middle school life. "Star Girl" By: Jerry Spinelli in the 6th grade, "Pop Princess" By:Rachel Cohn in the 7th and "Persepolis"
By:Marjane Satrapi. All of these books have spoken to me in a different way. They have all helped me grow as a reader and changed my view on books that may look different, but have almost the same story to tell.I admit that I am a VERY picky reader, and I don't read books that don't have an interesting title. Over the course of my 8th grade year I have grown (Mentally AND Physically) as a reader. For example, At the beginning of my 8th grade year, I thought that this year would be no different from any other year. But when I stepped into the classroom that is Locker, I realized that it wasn't going to be all lucy goosey any more... I was introduced to new reading strategies and techniques along my journey to HIGH SCHOOL.

The magical world of 8th grade humanities has taken me on great roller coasters and thrill rides within books, and meaning less baby rides that I had to sit through in order to get to the other side... HIGH SCHOOL!!!!
